Tithing and Financial Freedom

Relationship of tithing to financial freedom
Everyone who wish to prosper and or be financially free should look at this principle seriously. It’s not a quick rich scheme, but PART of a lifestyle that will bring wealth.
What is a tithe?
A tithe is giving back to the Lord the 10% of your earning as a sign of respect. It’s not about the amount, rather the act of worship.
It’s NOT an Old Covenant requirement but a biblical practice long before Moses set up the Old testament worship rules. Abraham gave a tenth of his loot to God even before the nation of Israel was established.
The principle of tithing was established during the creation, in the Garden of Eden, God gave Adam and Eve everything but gave strict instruction not to touch the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil (that’s the tithe).
The curse of a thief
Malachi 3:8-9
“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ “In tithes and offerings.9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me.
Zechariah 5:3
And he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.
Benefits of Tithing
Malachi 3:10-11
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.
- Open heavens– opportunities to earn will come your way.
- Protection of your sources of income.
- Increased earnings.
- People will recognize that you are amazingly blessed.
You may ask if this principles worked for me, we can sit down for a cup of coffee and I will gladly share with you my journey.
This principle has been maligned, criticized and ridiculed. But one can not and will not understand this fully unless he respects God. Again, tithe is not about your money, but recognizing his role in your life and submission.
Where does the tithe go? It should be brought to the church WHERE YOU BELONG. It’s not for the evangelist or TV Minister. The tithe is to finance the church operations, including salaries, ministries and outreaches. Churches are not exempt from paying utilities and other cost to sustain it’s operations.
In conclusion, everyone who wish to be financially free should involve God in the equation, and follow his principles. Tithing is an act of submission and worship.
Job 28:28
And he said to man, ‘The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.’
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor.
Fear in the original language connotes respect.

[...] earn.. to honor God with the tithe…and to save [...]
I agree with tithing but on some degree. I am a giver of many things to less fortunate ones, i do random acts of kindness but i don’t practice tithing with money. The general public practices tithing, even the poorest of the poor, thinking that when they give they shall receive which is very ironic?! Tithing should be done “only” if you are giving it whole-heartedly! I’ll elaborate, how can someone with lots of obligations whether in cash or in kind, can tithe whole heartedly? Its impossible, we are human beings, we feel and we think…Bottom line most of the people tithe because its a requirement in their religion or organization and worst because they wanted something in return.
Someone with lots of obligations whether in cash or in kind will always find himself short of resources primarily because he has been living on debt, whether to fellow man or God…and the longer a person has been doing this the harder it becomes to reverse course, but, nothing is impossible with God. Tithing seems to be very simple but is something that increasingly becomes complex as you go through life trying to follow Him and His laws, however, those who do overcome are exceedingly blessed. Yes, it is ironic that we have to LET GO in order to receive something bigger…something better.
