Wanna Be Entrepreneur? Start With The Corporate World

Yesterday, my son and I had our haircut. Our decision to eat at Mongolian Quickstop resulted to a short discussion with the franchise owner, Mr. Albert Yu. If not for his age, I may have mistaken Mr Yu as the customer relations manager. He was so jolly, accommodating and optimistic. I took advantage of the talk to learn as much entrepreneurial lessons as I can from this seasoned entrepreneur.
According to Mr. Yu, he started as an employee of a bank before he ventured into business. And as piece of advice to would be entrepreneurs, he said “skills and connections gained in the corporate world can be put into good use in the business world”. His first business is selling LPG, this opportunity came on the early 70′s after the original business owner opted to move in the US. The business was sold to him in the amount of P120,000.00. It was a rough start, according to him. Coming up with the money is not easy. Another key lesson he shared is the importance of the spouse. “Without the spouses paitience and support, he would have not attained his present status“.
Mr. Yu is expecting to open his 2nd Mongolian franchise at Robinson’s Midtown Mall. He is also into property development, real estate, stock market, LPG/Gasoline station management.
starting a business is really difficult. i am having a first-hand experience of how starting a business can be very painful. though the rewards are said to be worth it, i’m not sure if the stress can be handled by just about anyone who wants to be rich. in the end, it’s not really about the money. it’s about outdoing yourself.
