Blueprint For Success
Allow me to share one of the lessons I learned from the book of Proverbs, and this has something to do with what we all aspire for. S-U-C-C-E-S-S according to King Solomon For reference, you can look at Proverbs chapter 3, verses 1-10
1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. How do we achieve success, enjoy long, healthy and peaceful lives the Bible way?
- Believe and keep on believing the Word of God = success and long life (verses 1-2)
- Love and be truthful = favor and good name (verses 3-4)
- Trust on the Lord = protection and less stressful life (verses 5-6)
- Refuse to do wrong = good health and strong bones (verses 7-8)
- Give your tithe and be generous = wealth accumulation (verses 9-10)
Sounds simple, but unless we exert an effort, this is not easy. Specially when we lean on our own understanding. i.e., giving the 10th of our income as tithe vs. the thought that we need it more, refusal to do wrong vs. the white lies and gray areas, faith on God and His word vs. the existence of the fakes and scandal ridden churches.
No one can prove the wrongness of this formula unless one will follow first the prescription. May the good LORD give us the grace to believe and strength to stand on what is right.
